‘TIS THE SEASON!

As the seasons shift & the year begins its gentle (or not-so-gentle!) wind-down, we invite you to give thanks and make intentional contributions that will result in bringing comfort for the holidays to families, and – in particular – to children in need.

Dear DC Food Project Community,

On this Giving Tuesday, our team is taking a moment to reflect on the incredible year we’ve had — and on the people who have made it possible. We are deeply grateful for you.

Because of your generosity, partnership, and belief in our mission, DC Food Project continues to meet the growing needs of students and families across our city. Together, we’ve expanded access to consistent, dignified food support for thousands of children — and we’ve shown, time and again, what is possible when a community shows up for one another.

Your support has helped us:

  • Strengthen and sustain our school programs across nearly 100 schools

  • Deliver 25,000 lbs of food per month to students who need it most

  • Bring together hundreds of volunteers, school ambassadors and partners across sectors to ensure no child goes hungry

  • And are on track to distribute our 5 millionth of meal and essential items to families since 2018

Behind every data point is a child who feels seen, a family who feels supported, and a school that can better care for its community. You make that possible.

As we look toward the months ahead, the need is only growing — and many of our schools are already stretched beyond capacity. We are committed to showing up for every student who relies on us, but we cannot do it alone. Your support today truly matters.

The reality is food insecurity remains a persistent challenge in DC, disproportionately affecting children. Our team ensures families have access to nutritious food directly through the institutions they trust most: their schools. The result is stronger communities, improved student wellbeing, and greater stability for families.

If you are able, we ask you to make a Giving Tuesday contribution now. Every donation — no matter the size — directly helps us keep pantry shelves stocked, deliver food during major school breaks, and respond quickly when families need immediate support.

Thank you for being part of the DC Food Project family. Your partnership fuels our work, your compassion inspires us, and your support helps ensure that no student is left behind.

With gratitude,
