Volunteer
LOOKING TO VOLUNTEER? YOU’VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE!
At DC Food Project, we are always excited to welcome volunteers to help us pack and distribute food, toiletries, and essential supplies to school pantries across the city. By joining us, you’ll become part of a dedicated network of over 200 volunteers, organizations, and community partners working together throughout the school year to deliver thousands of pounds of food to our school communities.
Why Your Support Matters: Our team supports over 4,000 pre-identified students experiencing food shortages at home and school. Our Pantry+ Program ensures these students and their families receive non-perishable goods and hot meals prior to school breaks, when standard meal programs are paused.
Get Involved This School Year: We are hosting 5 distribution days this coming school year. Volunteers are vital to helping our team transport thousands of meals across the city.
Distribution dates for school year 2026-27:
November 13, December 11, February 5, March 12 & June 4
What to Expect
Time Commitment: Each Volunteer Day lasts approximately 2–3 hours.
The Tasks: You will help our team organize delivered items, sort and pack bags, and prepare everything for distribution.
The Delivery: Volunteers will drive and deliver supplies to their assigned school(s). Please note: A vehicle is required for this role!
