Volunteer
LOOKING TO VOLUNTEER? YOU’VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE!
DC Food Project is always excited to welcome volunteers to come out and help distribute food, toiletries and much-needed supplies to our school Pantries around the city. Join our over 200 volunteers, organizations and partners who come out during the school year to support our work and help deliver thousands of pounds of food throughout our school communities.
For some quick background, our team assists over 3,000 students who have been pre-identified by our partner schools as children who deal with food shortage(s) at school and home. Our Pantry Program aims to fill the gap by providing snacks throughout the school day and quick meals/food/toiletries that these kids can bring home for dinner, over the weekend and of course longer breaks. This school year, we are hosting 5 volunteer days, where volunteers will help our team transport 1,000’s of meal, supporting our Pantry Program .
Remaining Distribution dates for school year 2024-25 are: February 7, April 11 & June 6
What to expect:
· Each Volunteer Day lasts approximately 2-3 hours.
· Volunteers will organize all delivered items, sort, pack bags and prepare for distribution.
· Volunteers will drive and deliver items to assigned school(s). Yes, you need a car!
If you are a group organizer hoping to bring your organization or company for a Day of Service Event, or host a donation event on our behalf, please contact our team, dcfoodproject@gmail.com, about scheduling. If you are an individual simply wanting to help, let us know and we’ll send you our volunteer sign-up form!
We look forward to another great year ahead!
