Volunteer

LOOKING TO VOLUNTEER? YOU’VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE!

DC Food Project is always excited to have volunteers help our team distribute food, toiletries and much-needed supplies to our school Pantries around the city. By volunteering you will join our 200+ volunteers, organizations and partners who come out during the school year to support our work and help deliver thousands of pounds of food to our school communities.

Our team assists over 3,000 students who have been pre-identified by our partner schools as children who deal with food shortage(s) at school and home.  Our Pantry + Program aims to fill the need during school breaks. By utilizing our relationships with schools, we deliver non-perishable food items, hot meals and more to our community who are among the most vulnerable groups affected by inadequate access to food.

For the 2025-26 school year, we will host 5 distribution days, where volunteers can help our team transport 1,000’s of meal across the city, supporting our Pantry + Program .

Distribution dates for school year 2025-26: November 14, December 12, February 6, April 10 & June 5

What to expect:

·  Each Volunteer Day lasts approximately 2-3 hours.

·  Volunteers will organize all delivered items, sort, pack bags and prepare for distribution.

·  Volunteers will drive and deliver items to assigned school(s). Yes, you need a car!

If you are a group organizer hoping to bring your organization or company for a Day of Service Event, or host a donation event on our behalf, please contact our team, dcfoodproject@gmail.com, about scheduling. If you are an individual simply wanting to help, let us know and we’ll send you our volunteer sign-up form!

We look forward to another great year ahead!
