DC Summer Meal Programs begin Friday, June 19, 2026- Sunday, August 23, 2026

The D.C. Youth Meals Program (federally known as Summer Food Service Program) begins Friday, June 19. D.C. Youth Meals Program provides healthy meals to children 18 and under at no cost at various meal sites throughout the District. There is no application and no ID required.

DC Public School (DCPS) Meal Sites:
FREE breakfast and lunch will be available to all children and youth 18 and younger across the city all summer long! Students are welcome to stop into a participating DCPS summer school site where they can be served a meal to consume on-site. Please note that meal locations and hours are subject to change.

Note- that sites with a ✓ are participating in the DC Youth Meal Program (DCYMP) and are open to children 18 and under. Sites marked with an X are meals for students enrolled at that specific summer school.

If your student will be participating in summer programming and has a dietary accommodation during the school year, please reach out to dietary.forms@k12.dc.gov with the name of your student and they school location that they will be at during summer.
DC Central Kitchen Summer Meal Sites:
DC Central Kitchen meals don’t stop just because school’s out for summer. Visit DCCENTRALKITCHEN.ORG for more information on DC Central Kitchen’s Summer Meals Programs, Including a full list of schools, summer programs and community engagement sites.
DC Parks & Recreation (DPR) Meal Sites:
DPR provides meals for DC children 18 years and under at select recreation centers throughout the District. No ID or application is needed. Summer 2026 meal service will begin Friday, June 19.

Building Bridges DC- Food & Farm Fridays @ THEARC West (1901 Mississippi Ave SE)

Sunbucks Program-
Beginning summer 2026, families could receive $120 per eligible student. These benefits work together with other nutrition assistance programs, such as summer meal sites, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) to support students with consistent access to nutritious meals when school is out.New this year, parents can now check their student’s program enrollment status using the enrollment checker. Also, on the Parent Portal, parents/guardians can check the status of their student’s SUN Bucks benefits.

SNAP Benefit Updates- As of June 1, 2026, the District of Columbia began the Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents (ABAWDs) work requirement screening process for new and existing SNAP clients. SNAP Outreach Listserve- Join the D.C. Hunger Solutions listserv to receive the latest about SNAP, training and technical assistance opportunities, and SNAP outreach events.
